Privacy Policy
In short
- No account, no ads, no analytics SDKs.
- Sun times are calculated on your device.
- Location is used only when you choose your current location, and only while you use the app.
- Place search uses Apple services. Weather requests send the chosen place’s coordinates to Apple Weather.
- Your places and plans are stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch, not on a server we run.
About this policy
Lightline helps you view sunlight times, weather and arrival plans on iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy describes Lightline 1.0, coming soon to the App Store, and its support services. If a later version changes how the app handles information, we will update this policy first.
Places and location
You can search for a place or choose to use your current location. When you choose current location, the app asks for permission to get your location while you use the app. Coordinates and a place name are used to calculate sunlight and to get weather. You can decline or revoke location access in Settings and choose a place by hand instead.
The app does not follow your location in the background. “Tracking” a place in the app means choosing the place that your watch and widgets show. It does not mean advertising tracking or continuous GPS monitoring.
Sunlight calculations happen on your device. Place search and reverse geocoding use Apple services. Weather requests send the selected place’s coordinates to Apple Weather. These network services, including loading weather attribution images and opening source links, are subject to Apple’s policies and how Apple operates them. We do not claim that all information stays on your phone.
Information stored on your devices
The app stores your browsed and tracked places, up to ten recent places, arrival plans, reminder state and a weather cache. Place records include a name, coordinates and time zone. A random installation identifier, modification revisions and pending-work flags help resolve changes between devices. They are not advertising identifiers.
The iPhone app shares the tracked place with its widgets through a local App Group container. Apple Watch shares its local tracked-place record with its complications in a separate local App Group. The iPhone and paired Apple Watch exchange the selected place and synchronization metadata through WatchConnectivity. The app does not send a multi-day weather or sunlight history through this channel.
Local app data may be included in backups or restored according to your device and Apple backup settings. Lightline does not run its own backup server.
Arrival plans, notifications and sharing
When you ask for a reminder, the app asks for notification permission and schedules a local notification on your device. Reminders are not sent from a developer-operated push server. How notifications appear depends on your device settings.
When you choose Share, the app passes the selected text or generated image to the system share sheet. It can include a place, sunlight times and your planned arrival. You choose where it goes. The recipient or the service you choose controls any copy you share.
Retention and your choices
You can remove an arrival plan. The app removes expired plans the next time it processes them; it does not run continuously to delete them at an exact second. You can stop tracking a place, which clears the shared tracked selection and cancels its pending reminders once synchronization completes. Stopping tracking does not erase browsed places, recent places, saved plans or all synchronization metadata.
A weather cache can remain on disk after it is too old to show, until it is overwritten or the app’s data is removed. This version does not have a single in-app control that erases every local record. Deleting the app normally removes its private local data, but a companion app, shared container, backup or copy you shared may remain. Removing data from one device does not erase every copy on the other device or in a backup.
Manage location and notification permissions in Settings. For questions about retained data or deletion, contact [email protected].
Advertising, analytics and support
Lightline contains no advertising SDK, no developer-operated account service and no third-party analytics SDK, and no code that sends your usage or location to a developer-operated server. It does not sell data or combine your activity with other apps’ data for advertising. We will update this policy before adding any such service.
If you write to [email protected], your message is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the publisher’s Gmail account (Google). Only the publisher reads it, and it is used only to answer your request. We delete messages within 12 months after your request is resolved. Cloudflare and Google process the email under their own privacy policies. Please don’t send sensitive information unless your request needs it.
Apple may process service and device information under its own policies. That processing is Apple’s, and it does not mean the publisher receives that information.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy if the app’s practices change, and post the new version on this page.
