Requirements
On the App Store, look for Lightline: Golden Hour. On your Home Screen and Apple Watch, it’s called Lightline.
Lightline is a one-time purchase with everything included. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
- iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
- Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later, for the Watch app and complications.
Apple Watch
How do I add Lightline to my watch face?
On Apple Watch, touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, and swipe to the complications screen. Tap a slot and choose Lightline. Which styles appear depends on the slot:
- Light Columns for rectangular slots.
- Light Ring for circular slots.
- Light Arc and Next Light for corners.
- Next Light for inline slots.
You can also edit faces in the Watch app on iPhone.
My watch shows a different place than my iPhone.
The watch and its complications follow your tracked place. Choose it in Places on iPhone. Your watch receives the change when it can reach your iPhone; opening Lightline on the watch helps it catch up.
Why does my complication look single-color?
Some faces tint every complication to match the face. Lightline then uses shape and brightness instead of color. Full color returns on faces that allow it.
Plans and reminders
What does “Be there by” mean?
It is your arrival time: the start of the light you picked, minus 10, 20 or 30 minutes. It does not include travel time, so leave early enough to get there.
I didn’t get a reminder.
- Check that notifications for Lightline are on in Settings › Notifications.
- Reminders are available for your tracked place. Track the place in Places, then turn on “Remind me at arrival time” in the plan.
- Focus modes can hold notifications back.
Sun times
Why is the time a minute or two different from another app?
Lightline calculates the sun’s position on your device and assumes a level horizon. Hills, buildings and weather change what you actually see, and other apps may round or define events differently. In Lightline, golden hour runs from when the sun is 6° above the horizon until sunset, and blue hour is while the sun is between 4° and 6° below the horizon.
Why does it say there is no sunrise or sunset?
Near and above the Arctic and Antarctic circles, the sun can stay up all day (midnight sun) or stay down (polar night). Lightline shows these days as they are and doesn’t invent a sunrise or sunset.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes for sun times, which are calculated on your device. Place search and weather need a connection.
Weather
Where does the weather come from?
Sunset weather comes from Apple Weather. Lightline shows hourly cloud cover and chance of rain around sunset. If weather can’t be loaded, sun times still work.
Privacy
Lightline has no account and no tracking. Read the full privacy policy.
